Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you based?
I am based in Barking, East London, less than 5 minutes from the tube station.
Do you edit the images?
If you're looking for a skilled image editor who can enhance your photos while still maintaining your natural appearance, then look no further. I have a natural talent for editing images, and I follow a simple rule when it comes to editing - if it won't be there in two weeks, then it's gone. I can edit out spots, stray hairs, and blemishes, leaving you with a look that still represents your natural appearance. Unlike some other editors, I won't make you look like someone else or airbrush you within an inch of your life. My goal is to create headshots that represent the real you and how you would look at a casting. If you're looking for a natural and authentic look, then I'm the editor for you.
What should I wear?
When it comes to what to wear, there are no hard and fast rules, my advice is to make sure you look your best. You are the one who knows what looks good on you. However, there are a few general guidelines - no big logos, wear neutral colours and avoid anything too distracting, like heavy patterns or large florals. Natural muted tones clothing is something I would recommend, a V- neck or scoop neck top works well too. For your convenience, it's best to bring 4-6 options for up to a 2-hour session and make sure they are as uncreased as possible. I have a handheld steamer for creases that you are welcome to use at your own risk to yourself and your clothes :)
What Backgrounds do you use?
I started out using plain colour backdrops but have now switched to hand painted canvas backdrops in earthy neutral colours. These look much better with the way I shoot and the lighting I use in the studio.
I still have the standard white/grey/black backgrounds if you prefer. Please let me know in advance as I need to prepare the studio before you get there so I don't waste any of your time in the session.
Can I have a make up artist or/and hair stylist?
Yes! You would need to organise your own make up artist or/and hair stylist. Please take into account how long your session is, you don't want the make up/ hair prep to be taking up your valuable studio time.
If you require one please let me know so I can ensure early access to the studio so you can have make up done while I set up for the shoot. The same goes for a hair stylist too.
Do you shoot outside?
Not headshots, however I am open to do that upon request. I do shoot portfolios and portraits outside which obviously is very weather dependent. Bear in mind that bright sunny days in general are not great weather for portraits. If you have a location available let me know and we can discuss this further.
Do you take child bookings?
I usually only photograph children aged 12 and above, unless they have prior studio experience, in which case I am comfortable photographing them from 10 years old. I have worked with Alphabet Kidz agency for over 6 years and I possess a DBS check.
Is there a changing room in your studio?
There are 3 toilets available - female, male & a larger disabled toilet.
If you would rather get changed in the studio then I'd leave the room and wait in the foyer area giving you privacy.
I wear glasses. Is that a problem?
As you might expect, glasses can cause a lot of glare and reflection in photos. The extent of this effect depends on the type of glasses or lenses you have. Generally, I can work well with high-quality anti-glare glasses. However, if you don't have anti-glare glasses, I may need to adjust the lighting setup, which could result in a slightly different look compared to my portfolio images. One solution is to use an old pair of glasses or buy an inexpensive pair with the lenses removed for the shoot. This will give you the desired appearance without the glare issues. Please let me know if you wear glasses when you schedule your appointment.
Can I bring someone along to the shoot?
If you're over 18 and want to bring a chaperone, that's okay. Just remember, they can stay in the kitchen area but can't be in the studio or participate in any way. Through my years of experience, I've found that having an extra person on set can sometimes cause distractions and interfere negatively. However, feel free to seek advice from your chaperone regarding hair and clothing! But if they're going to be involved in the shoot, it might lead to unnecessary distractions and affect your session. If you're bringing a child, that's fine too! You can help them prepare, and I'll just ask that you wait in the kitchen area. Don't worry, the studio door will be open. Thanks for your understanding!
